What have we done prior to this project?

The following is a partial list of programs previously developed by Human Care Network professionals:

  1. Indian Manpower Allied Health Career Training (IMPAHCT)
    Utilizing the HELP system as the training system, Englander affiliated an Indian Manpower Training group in California and united them with Extended Care facilities throughout the state in establishing training and employment sites for Native Americans. Englander's organization facilitated the training program for both the trainee and the Extended Care Facility. The program's success was replicated on many Indian reservations throughout the country.

  2. Being an Indian Home Health Aide
    A text workbook system developed to educate and train American Indians to become home health aides and community health representatives.

  3. Diabetes Mellitus
    Audiovisual program and text on prevention and treatment of diabetes for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.

  4. Hyptertension Series
    Developed training system on prevention and treatment of hypertension for Merck.

  5. Depression and Anxiety
    Developed educational film and text on recognition and treatment of depression/anxiety for Pfizer.

  6. Measles, Mumps, and Rubella
    Developed audio-visual educational program on recognition and treatment for Marion Laboratories.

  7. Trans Ischemic Attack
    Developed educational program on recognition and treatment for Marion Laboratories.

  8. Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease
    Developed audio-visual educational program on chronic obstructive lung disease for Roerig Laboratories.

  9. Rheumatic Disease
    Developed a tape series on rheumatic disease for Merck Labs.

  10. Medical School Introduction
    Developed a film program for University of Kentucky explaining the opportunities existing for minority students in the health care professions.

  11. Keeping Well/Doing It On Your Own
    Developed a film program on self help with illness and other medical problems.

  12. Principles of Instructional Skills
    Developed a text and film designed to assist instructors with teachers in the use of training materials and audio-visuals in establishing a systematic approach to training of entry level personnel in the allied health field.

  13. Refer System
    In association with University of Nevada Medical School and Roche Labs developed a series of television programs enabling and targeting law enforcement agencies in the recognition of symptoms and signs of behavioral activity and medical conditions that might otherwise be presumed to be alcohol related activity.

  14. Employment for Entry Level Personnel
    Developed a series of films designed to aid, assist, and educate entry level personnel entering into the world of work and in developing proper enthusiasm and attitude toward their employment activity.

  15. Manpower Support Program
    Developed for the U.S. Department of Labor a series of films educating manpower program operators in the area of successfully supporting entry level personnel in their quest to obtain and keep jobs. This program was implemented by Englander's company by holding nationwide seminars.

  16. Elder Care Training Program
    Presently in progress is the development of a series of films addressing the problems of diabetes among American Indians. Englander is participating in a research and development project with the UCLA American Indian Studies Center designed to educate American Indians to prevent and care for those who are disposed to or are afflicted with diabetes. The emphasis of the program is to motivate learners to use exercise and nutrition to help themselves and family members in the prevention and control of the disease.
